Steve HUNTER
Procurement Manager
Growing up in Kamloops, he was immersed in a culture that valued nature, sports, and well-being, thanks to his family's deep-rooted principles. Now, with a family of his own, he and his wife—who teaches at a nearby elementary school—are committed to instilling these same values in their two children, hoping to extend this appreciation to everyone they hold dear. His connection to this community runs deep, with his father dedicating over four decades to Highland Valley Copper and his mother building a career in various corporate and public service roles.
He joined the BAT team in March 2018, bringing with him nearly twenty years of rich experience in industrial construction, spanning both business and field operations. The geotechnical stabilization industry, with its relentless pace and ever-changing conditions, has been fertile ground for his growth in both expertise and character. This industry’s demand for a broad and deep knowledge base aligns perfectly with his insatiable appetite for learning and progression.
What truly energizes him is the opportunity to pass on the wealth of knowledge and insights he has gained in this industry and in construction at large. It's this transfer of wisdom and experience that keeps him motivated and on a positive trajectory every day.
Working for BAT, a family-owned company rooted in the local community, allows him to integrate his professional life with his personal commitment to making a positive impact, both during work hours and in his personal time. This integration of professional pursuits and community engagement defines his role as an active, contributing member of his community.
